Stripping and Priming Parts - 356 Restoration
Using phosphoric acid and rattle can 2k epoxy primer to clean up some old rusty parts. We'll do a bit of testing a bit down the road. We might also compare a couple different types of rattle can epoxy at some point.

    It is a good video with the right diagnostics for the ice and water dispenser problem. However, I would not have soldered the wires together like this. I would get new electrical connectors similar to the old connector or any three wire connectors and install the wires into them instead, making sure that the wires from one connector would go to the right wires on the other connector. When you done putting the wires into the new connectors, you can just plug them back together. Of course, a large heat shrink tube over the connector would prevent future corrosion. There is a reason that GE engineers designed the wiring to be replaceable, doing this will prevent you from replacing the wiring in the future.

    I have several cuting oils, but my general use one is amonia and works very well. Ammonium hydroxide is used as a refrigerant gas because ammonia absorbs heat from its surroundings. Dexron: Works wonders when you're using carbide burrs to cut aluminum with a die grinder. Cutting metal: ❤ Ammonia, Alcohol, and some blue dish soap. Household ammonia is ammonium hydroxide. This solution contains 5% to 10%.. is slightly alkaline, and it can etch aluminum and other metals.

    Hey fellow YT content consumers. If your F-150 - or other Ford vehicle - outside of a very small number of Lincoln or Mercury models - was built before 2004 (for the 5.4L or an 2005 4.6L) - then this video doesn't apply to you. This content providers video description should read 2004 and on. He has no idea wtf he's talking about, clearly.

    Can you use a slapper on a motorcycle tank without a dolly?

    • @GregsGarage
      @GregsGarage Місяць тому

      I wouldn't. It would likely just cave the dent in more. I would generally find a bar or a pick that you can run through the gas filler opening and put some pressure on the back side, then use the slapper very lightly. The other option is to use a stud welder or a glue tab from the PDR world to pull the dent from the outside.

    I bought the Seams Impossible tool but I have a questions. The side screws to affix the tool in the jackets don’t line up. The screw hole in the tool is closer to open edge of the jacket. I can see the majority of the screw hole in the tool. So can I adjust the screw holes in the jackets, making them slight oval versus round?

    • @GregsGarage
      @GregsGarage Місяць тому

      Jim, I just notices a few parts 2-3 weeks ago where the holes were off-line a bit. I looked at our drilling jig and the guide for the side holes got egg-shaped, and I didn't catch it... You can definitely enlarge the holes without it affecting the performance of the jacket. The jacket and shims are a VERY loose tolerance situation.

    On my 1997 5.4 the #7 coil pack and plug has been replaced 2 times in 2 months (1st time I changed all the CP & SP). When the last one had to be changed I was told the hole the retaining bolt goes in was striped. I can definitely wiggle the CP head when it’s “bolted down”. It runs fine for a while but 5 weeks since the last change I’m getting the PO307 code again and again after I clear it. Could the bolt that secures it being loose and therefore the cp head being loose be cause the problem?

    Its galvanic corrosion. I replaced the valves before I saw your video. GE used metal and nonmetal together ferrous and non ferrous You cant do that the electrolite was the water vapor in the air being drawn across it by the condensor fan. Bad GE it should have never happened someone saved a couple of dollars. Never put metal and non metal together thats what happens...
